BUNDLE UP!
The Minnesota Legal Administrators Association (MLAA) is proud to partner with Community Action Council (CAC) in Dakota County for a Community Challenge volunteer opportunity. CAC is a nonprofit agency dedicated to bringing communities together to effect positive change, to prevent violence, to ensure student success in school and to promote self-sufficiency.
MLAA is teaming up with CAC’s Lewis House, a shelter for battered women and children, to collect new (or very gently used) coats, mittens, hats, and boots to help them bundle up this winter and to let them know we care.

In 1985, CAC broke ground on the current Lewis House in Eagan, which was the first shelter in the United States built for the purpose of being a battered women's shelter. The house was entirely paid for by the time the doors opened in 1986. CAC's Lewis House was named after the late State Senator B. Robert Lewis who dedicated his life to community service. Because he was especially concerned with human issues, he authored legislation to aid women in abusive relationships and to stem family violence. He also worked to create funding for a statewide program for battered women and their families.

PLEASE HELP!
MLAA members, law firms, and business partners are invited to donate new or very gently used coats, mittens, hats and boots during the month of September. Bring your donations to a monthly MLAA committee, special interest group meeting, the September 8th chapter meeting, the September 17th Fall Social, or deliver to Laurie Greenberg at Briggs and Morgan, 2200 IDS Center, 80 S. 8th St., Minneapolis by September 30th. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to Community Action Council and specify Lewis House. They will be happy to do the shopping for you. For additional information on CAC, please visit www.communityactioncouncil.org. Thank you!
